The land of the "free." The land of opportunity. The country in which one can pursue and reach any dream. This is also the land of business. Everything seems to be a business transaction and not a humanity transaction in sight in Corporate America. A place where a catastrophic event is considered a house fire or losing a house to a storm. Losing your marriage, dignity, self worth, children, job due to domestic violence isn't considered a catastrophic event. Domestic violence costs the U.S. $8.3 billion a year. (caepv.org) This cost is for lost wages, medical expenses, and mental health services. Everything is a business but what is everyone's business is that domestic violence affects everyone. Everyone is so caught up in making a profit and losing sight that humans are very much affected by domestic violence yet its still kept hushed. What company is going to pay for a domestic violence seminar? One that cares but also one that can afford to pay for it. Budget cuts automatically affect seminars such as these. It is key that all aspects of the community shed light on domestic violence. When a woman goes to her yearly exam domestic violence should be spoken about this could be a way the U.S. can save money let's educate these women. Doctors should empower, strengthen, and educate women on domestic violence. They should also ask if there is any violence going on in the home. Doctors should get to know their patients and not see them as a business transaction. Corporations and business owners should do the same hold seminars, webinars, presentations on domestic violence. Even if a woman doesn't speak up it will give her the courage to seek help and get out. Bosses hate when a woman calls out of work not knowing if her not feeling well is because she's in an abusive relationship. All these factors cost businesses and society money yet it's still something that isn't talked about the way it should be. Health insurance companies should also educate women on domestic violence. Society as a whole is responsible to be humane and educate one another.
A woman's life should be just as important as the next business transaction therefore education is needed. What good will an employee be if an employer is looking at them as a number? This is something that affects society as a whole. if everyone comes together to do their part more women would come out and speak up. These women wouldn't feel victimized by society if society actually cared and helped. Ladies if you or someone you know is in a violent relationship please seek help.
